The 35th Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV 2026) was held in Vienna, Austria, from September 30 to October 3, 2026. As one of the world's leading scientific gatherings in dermatology and venereology, the congress brought together dermatologists, researchers, and industry representatives from around the globe to exchange insights into the latest advances in dermatological research, clinical practice, and technological innovation.
At EADV 2026, Ziyond Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Ziyond) presented clinical and preclinical research alongside formulation innovations across dermatology and skin health.
01 | International Expert Perspectives
Ziyond's symposium at EADV 2026 featured Professor Jianzhong Zhang of Peking University People's Hospital, Dr. Beilei Cai, Chief Scientist of ZRVIVE, and Professor Peter Wolf, Head of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology at the Medical University of Graz. The speakers discussed recent advances in dermatology and emerging approaches to skin health.
Dr. Beilei Cai presented Ziyond's latest advances in scalp-care formulation, including work on selenium sulfide stability and supramolecular technologies. Her presentation covered efforts to address formulation challenges such as sedimentation and discoloration, as well as the development of products tailored to different scalp-care needs.
Professor Wolf presented research on ZRVIVE sunscreen sticks extending beyond conventional SPF testing. The studies covered UV transmittance and critical wavelength, SPF retention after eight hours of simulated wear, skin hydration, barrier function and facial redness over 28 days of use, and cellular responses to UVB, blue light and heat stress.
Developed with different users and real-world settings in mind, the ZRVIVE sunscreen stick range demonstrates how Ziyond applies its expertise in formulation science and product innovation to create targeted sun protection solutions.
02 | Sarecycline: Clinical Evidence from China
At Ziyond's symposium, Professor Jianzhong Zhang presented results from the Phase 3 trial of sarecycline in Chinese patients with moderate-to-severe acne vulgaris, along with findings from the long-term follow-up.
The multicenter trial showed a 73.2% mean reduction in facial inflammatory lesion counts from baseline at Week 12, with a statistically significant difference versus placebo emerging as early as Week 3. At Week 12, 39.7% of sarecycline-treated patients achieved facial Investigator's Global Assessment (IGA) treatment success.
Together, the Phase 3 results and long-term follow-up findings add to the growing clinical evidence base for sarecycline in China. The EADV presentation also shared these China-generated findings with a wider international dermatology audience.
03 | Scientific Poster Highlights
Five scientific posters presented at EADV 2026 highlighted research spanning scalp health, hair regeneration, pigmentation, and acne-related post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). These studies encompassed real-world clinical observations, preclinical mechanistic investigations, and exploratory clinical evaluations, reflecting diverse approaches to advancing dermatology and skin health.
Scalp Health
Drawing on real-world clinical data, the research explored the use of a treatment regimen based on a selenium sulfide and salicylic acid shampoo in adolescents with scalp seborrheic dermatitis.
Hair Regeneration
A preclinical study investigated a novel azelaic acid–Aminexil eutectic mixture and its effects on biological pathways associated with androgenetic alopecia, providing mechanistic insights to support further development.
Innovative Applications of Azelaic Acid
Three studies examined azelaic acid-based approaches to UV-induced hyperpigmentation, acne-related post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and combination chemical peeling, spanning formulation research and clinical evaluation.
04 | Looking Ahead: Innovation and Collaboration
Ziyond's participation in EADV 2026 included a company-hosted symposium, the presentation of clinical research findings from China, and five scientific posters.
Ziyond's R&D strategy remains focused on addressing unmet needs in dermatology and skin health, with clinical value guiding its priorities. The company is advancing its proprietary technologies, expanding its clinical evidence base, and strengthening international academic partnerships to bring more dermatological innovations developed in China to the global scientific community.
